On the 8th of September, 1941, the German army surrounded the city of Leningrad. Thus began the terrible Siege of Leningrad. According to various estimates, somewhere between 630,000 and 1.5 million people starved to death during that time. The main characters of this documentary were then just children. In the film, they recount the 900 days of their childhood that were spent under siege: the hunger and the cold; the deaths of their brothers, sisters and mothers. They tell the story of how they survived.
