On April 17th, 1964, the Ford Mustang was launched on the American market. The marketing campaigns was so efficient, that the same day, Ford car dealers, exhausted but happy, counted some 22,000 orders for that car. The Mustang achieved the most phenomenal commercial success ever recorded for a car since the end of the war, and achieved the triumph of exceeding one million models sold after one year. Originally a symbol for a new generation of young working Americans, it then obtained the rank of undisputed automobile legend. To celebrate this emblematic model, we take a look at the beginnings of the legend and its extraordinary history. And to celebrate its 50th anniversary, we head to Las Vegas, California, where Mustang aficionados gather from around the world - including France of course! - to celebrate the Mustang myth…

Le 17 avril 1964, la Ford Mustang était lancée sur le marché américain à grand renfort de communication. A la fin de la journée, les concessionnaires Ford, harassés mais heureux, comptaient déjà 22.000 commandes…
La Mustang obtenait le plus phénoménal succès commercial jamais atteint pour une voiture depuis la guerre, et réussit l’exploit inégalé de dépasser le million de modèles vendus au bout d’un an.
Initialement symbole d’une génération de jeunes américains dynamiques et décontractés, elle s’est hissée au rang de mythe automobile incontesté, en 50 ans.
Pour fêter ce monstre sacré, retour sur les débuts de la légende et sur son histoire hors du commun, au travers d’archives d’époque.
