In September 2001, an exceptional technological prowess triggered a media craze. To prove the high technicality of their know-how, the surveyors-experts of Haute-Savoie had carried out the ascent of the Mont Blanc, armed with the most advanced devices of measurement. Yet the unprecedented precision achieved by these engineers has called into question figures that have been held to be unchanging for almost 100 years. No, the Mont Blanc is not 4807 meters, but 4810 meters! 3 small meters that seem nothing, a priori, but which already demonstrated, 20 years ago, that a new technical area was in progress.
