Hollywood and gangsters have a long history of love!
The mafia understood this well in the 1930s when it decided to take control of the major film studios through the unions! They needed to launder dirty money during Prohibition, and Hollywood became a haven for gangsters.

Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky… all these names evoke the old Godfathers who inspired Coppola, Tarantino, and Michael Mann.
