It’s impossible to miss, between its massive stature and its art deco style, it dominates the Promenade de la Croisette. The Hotel Martinez is massive. 409 rooms. 5 restaurants. 15 living rooms. The biggest private beach in Cannes. It’s one of the biggest palaces in France. 44 000 square meters, the size of a small town!
A giant because of its size, but also because of its prestige. The Martinez immediately makes you think of the Cannes Film Festival: Robert Redford, Brigitte Bardot, Bruce Willis, Sofia Loren, they all left their mark here. For 80 years, movie stars have stayed in this hotel. The Martinez is a myth, one that has a price. The price starts at 700 euros for a night, and for the wealthiest, it’s 38 000 euros, still for one night! For that price, you’ll have the royal suite, 1000 square meters on the last floor, an unbelievable view of Cannes’ bay, a butler devoted only to you, and even reproductions of classic Picasso paintings to decorate your room.
The Martinez makes dreams come true, whatever they are. Recently, a Russian millionaire decided to celebrate his grandmother’s birthday. His request? That the 2000 square meter living room be transformed into a Russian village, and not a random one, the one where his grandmother was born.
To add madness to the outrageousness, our billionaire decided to bring an elephant. A real one. Not a problem.
The Martinez crew rallied. They reinforced the ground to welcome the 3-ton elephant, and traditional Russian isbas replaced the art deco furniture. For one night, The Cannes palace was resonating with slav songs.
